Jay Dust was never meant for a quiet life. Long before he became a lawman, bounty hunter, mail runner, and wandering gunslinger of the Redemption Frontier, Jay Dust was a young man caught in the final years of the civil War. He was barely old enough to understand the world around him when war claimed him, and whatever memories he might once have had of his parents faded beneath the smoke, gunfire, marching drums, and endless columns of soldiers. War became his family. The army became his home. And the war became the cause he was willing to die for. A YOUNG MAN IN A WAR-TORN NATION Jay enlisted while still a young man, swept into the U.S Army during the final stages of the Civil war. As the war drew toward its conclusion and the armies began to merge and reorganize, Jay's abilities and determination saw him commissioned as an officer. He was young, but war forced him to grow old quickly. Jay learned to command men before he had truly learned how to live for himself. He learned the responsibility of sending soldiers into battle, the weight of watching friends fall, and the terrible silence that followed a battlefield once the shooting stopped. He became known among the soldiers as the Silver Fox of the West. The name came to represent more than his skill with a pistol or his ability to survive impossible situations. Jay was clever, patient, and difficult to corner. He could read a battlefield, anticipate an enemy's movements, and find a way through when everyone else believed there was none. The Silver Fox always found a way home. Until the war finally took pieces of him that could never be replaced. a gunshot took his eye tearing across his face and a round hit his knee. But he lost the sight in one eye. The injury became a permanent reminder of the young soldier he had once been. Every morning when Jay looked into a mirror, he saw the price of the war staring back at him. When the war ended he rode west..
